Fernandez was born in 1940 to Ramon Hernandez in the sleepy town of Huenitian El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico. He grew up on a ranch in Guadalajara and worked in his uncle’s restaurant as a dish washer, cashier, waiter and eventual manager before going on to become an institution in the world of Mexican folk (ranchera) music.

A self made billionaire who was born of very humble roots in Salt Lake City. Dr. Buss discovered his lifelong soul mate while earning his PhD in chemistry from USC, the City of Los Angeles. Never one to be satisfied with the status quo, Dr. Buss was bored with the day to day tedium of academia. As a result he began dabbling in the world of real estate with a modest investment of $1,000 in a West Los Angeles apartment building.

Under Dantoni’s “expert” tutelage the Lakers have surged to an impressive 13-20 record leaving them 4.5 games out of the final playoff spot in the Pacific. Dantoni’s success, or therein lack of, is proof positive that the Lakers should have gone with their first choice, Phil Jackson, when choosing a replacement for the ousted Mike Brown. Perhaps Dantoni’s penchant for standing hands on hips with a goofy smile on his face is not the best formula for on the court success.
