BREAKING NEWS: JORDAN PALMER SIGNS WITH JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
By Jaboner Jackson 10:30 a.m. | Earlier this week, the Jacksonville Jaguars shored up their backup quarterback position by signing Jordan Palmer, the younger brother of Carson Palmer, to a contract. Affectionately known as “Little Heisman Palmer” around the FOOTBALLPHDS offices, the news of Jordan’s signing was admittedly inconsequential—he has thrown only 15 passes in his NFL career. Nonetheless, the kid from Orange County gets back in the professional game. Here are our predictions for Jordan’s 2012 NFL season with the Jaguars:

THE HAND BELONGS TO…
By Rock Mayock 8:00AM The incomparable Carson Palmer. It is no secret that the FOOTBALLPHDS, particularly Jaboner Jackson, harbor a deep rooted man crush on Carson Palmer. This man crush became even more profound when Carson Palmer was traded to the Raiders this past October. Never before have we seen Jaboner swoon like he did on October 18.

AFC WEST IS A TWO TEAM RACE BETWEEN RAIDERS AND CHARGERS
By Ari Ivy, Intern, at 7 a.m. | The AFC West standings through ten weeks show only a one game separation between first and last place. This is deceiving, because in reality, the AFC West is a two team race. In a quarterback driven league, the Raiders and Chargers have to be considered the favorites to contend for the division championship when they have the only two true quality quarterbacks in the AFC West. Last Thursday, in a game with huge potential playoff implications, the Oakland Raiders thoroughly dismantled the San Diego Chargers to claim sole supremacy in the AFC West by the end of the weekend. Jaboner and I made the trip down south from Los Angeles to San Diego to witness the two teams who will contend for the division go head-to-head, with the Raiders finishing the evening by establishing themselves as the favorites to win their first division title since 2002.

CARSON PALMER AND HUE JACKSON: TOGETHER AGAIN
By Jaboner Jackson 10 pm | As the NFL trading deadline neared, Hue Jackson and the Oakland Raiders nabbed Carson Palmer (aka Heisman Palmer around the FOOTBALLPHDS offices) from Mike Brown and the Cincinnati Bengals for a price that even Brown could not refuse—a 2012 1st round draft pick and a conditional 2013 2nd round draft pick. Around the FOOTBALLPHDS offices, speculation about Palmer to the Raiders began in earnest this summer as we reviewed Palmer’s high school and college years on this site. We always felt that Palmer would end up a Raider although we suspected it would be in 2012 and not 2011. (You can acquaint yourself with our past predictions about Carson Palmer and his high school and college years here, here, and here.) Palmer has always fit into the Raiders’ system. He is a prototypical Raiders quarterback—big arm, big body, and a desire to deliver the long ball. Here are some of the more pertinent questions regarding Carson Palmer in a Raiders uniform:

INSTANT ANALYSIS: CARSON PALMER TRADED TO THE RAIDERS
By Jaboner Jackson 10 am | During the offseason and NFL lockout, the topic of Carson Palmer (aka Heisman Palmer) around the FOOTBALLPHDS offices was a hot topic. Today, the topic has been revitalized, as the Oakland Raiders, channeling the Ghost of Al Davis, traded two (conditional) #1 draft picks to Cincinnati to snare their bona fide franchise quarterback. The price for Hue Jackson and company was steep but made sense on every level. Palmer has always been the prototypical Al Davis quarterback—strong armed, big bodied, and veteran minded. For this reason, we predicted in June that Palmer would make his way out to Oakland. Of course, we predicted this for the 2012 NFL season, but better early than never.

ODE TO JORDAN PALMER AKA LITTLE HEISMAN PALMER
By Jaboner Jackson 130 pm | Today the Palmer Era officially ended again when the Cincinnati Bengals cut backup quarterback Jordan Palmer. Our man crush on Carson Palmer (aka Heisman Palmer) is well documented. Even though we have no such man crush on Carson’s little brother--who is unofficially known as Little Heisman Palmer around the FOOTBALLPHDS offices--any Palmer family news is major news for us.
Jordan Palmer has played three seasons with the Bengals, during which time he has thrown a total of 15 passes. In 2010, he went an amazing 3-for-3 for an impressive 100% completion rate. Unfortunately, he also was sacked twice and only amassed 18 total yards of offense. Jordan has exhibited remarkable poise when holding the clipboard on the sidelines during practices.

NOTES FROM NFL PRESEASON WEEK 3 THURSDAY NIGHT GAMES
By Jaboner Jackson 8 am | It's no secret that I'm not a fan of preseason NFL football but last night I sucked it up and watched at least parts of all three Thursday night's Week 3 games. Week 3 games are usually the most representative of a team’s status since starters oftentimes play an entire half. Here are quick hits from each game. Since scores are irrelevant in preseason football, I don't talk about the outcome of the game.

BRUCE GRADKOWSKI REPLACES CARSON PALMER IN CINCINNATI
By Jaboner Jackson 10 pm | In a move that continues to signal the end of the Carson Palmer era in Cincinnati, the Bengals have come to terms with Bruce Gradkowski in a two-year deal. The FOOTBALLPHDS have predicted previously that Palmer would be back in a Bengals uniform come the start of season but so far we have been wrong. We are man enough to admit when we have been hoodwinked by our large man crush on Palmer. Fortunately, Gradkowski is another FOOTBALLPHDS favorite, so our man crush can continue in the “Blue Chip City.”
