2012 PAC-12 PREVIEW: CAL GOLDEN BEARS

The exit door is which wayBy Rock Mayock 1:30 p.m. |  The start of a new football season in Berkeley means only one thing: When does the “Will Jeff Tedford Get Fired Watch” begin. Although extremely cynical, the Tedford Watch is not without merit. The past 8 years in Berkeley have been excruciating to watch. So much hope, so many good prospects but it never translates on the field. Will 2012 be any different? Let’s take a look at the prospects.

CAL GOLDEN BEARS PRO DAY: MICHAEL CALVIN IMPRESSES

By Jaboner Jackson 10 p.m. | Berkeley, CA.  Yesterday was Cal's Pro Day--or at least part of it because constant rain in the Bay Area eradicated position drills. But rain and the Bay go together like E-40 and ghost riding the whip, so scouts and onlookers threw on their ponchos and got down with the hyphy. And little known wide receiver Michael Calvin got stupid doo-doo dumb while riding the yellow bus. (I apologize for the slang--something about being in the Bay Area always gets me all hyphied out.)

MATT LEINART GETS THE START

mattie scPosted by Rock Mayock 10:30PM Yesterday we explored the start of Mattie’s journey through the football world. Starting from his awkward fat cross eyed youth to his domination of the Serra League and California Interscholastic Federation Division I. We will bypass Mattie’s redshirt freshman season (2001) and relatively uneventful 2002 freshman year performing mop up duty for Heisman Palmer, to devote more time to one of the most magical seasons in USC football history.
