By Rock Mayock 9:00 a.m. | Canadian cuisine maestro and Food Network Canada star Chef Michael Dixon Smith. Chef Michael Smith sits atop the FOOTBALLPHDS’ shortlist of favorite celebrity chefs due to his down to earth “free styling” cooking technique: no recipes and let your ingredients tell you how they should be cooked. Brilliant advice to the laymen home chef.
Although Michael Smith is the reigning king of Canadian cuisine, he was born south of the border in New York. He graduated with honors from CIA (Culinary Institute of America) and also holds a degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology. His craft was perfected during stints working in London, South America, the Caribbean and New York City. In 1999 he opened his own eatery, Maple, in Halifax, N.S., to rave reviews. He then parlayed his restaurant's success to a budding TV career with Food Network Canada. Chef Michael Smith’s TV credits include The Inn Chef, Chef at Home, Chef at Large, Chef Abroad and Chef Michael’s Kitchen.
Congratulations to Agamemnon Spankatronix, IV for correctly identifying the beard. How he managed to name this individual defies logic but kudos are warranted nonetheless. You will be contacted shortly to discuss prize options.
Rock Mayock will be in the San Francisco Bay area this weekend to inspect the status of the Cal Memorial Stadium renovation project. Therefore Name the… will be posted on Monday instead of Sunday. Here are some youtube clips of Chef Michael Smith doing what he does best:
