NFL has known this is coming down for years. Without a doubt they have been hoarding money in a reserve fund to pay the anticipated settlement cost. Someone out there has to know somebody connected in the NFL who has a general idea how much money they have stashed. Comments?

There is no way this class action will settle for anywhere under $1 billion. To put things into the proper perspective you can look at the tobacco master agreement which settled for $206 BILLION paid over 25 years. Keep in mind the size of the tobacco class action was significantly larger and involved sign off by multipe state attorney generals because the class was filed by states, not individuals.

The difference between tobacco users and NFL players who suffered brain damage is in the long term health care cost. The average lifetime cost to treat lung cancer is around $105,000. The average lifetime cost to treat traumatic brain injury survivors is $4,000,000 or 40 times more than cancer. therefore the medical costs ALONE should cost at the NFL at least $8,000,000. That's before you factor in diminished quality of life and loss of life from the debilitating depression associtated with traumatic brain injuries. This class action can easily be monetized in the $100,000,000,000 range.

The NFL will try to weasel their way out of paying damages to players they knew were are risk for catastrophic long term brain damage. The players listed in the class action as well as current and former players with NFLPA memember should all be entitled to a piece of the settlement.
