THE SAD STAB FOR ATTENTION BY LONNIE WHITE

Doubletap Jenkins III 11:55pm PST | This is Lonnie White during his playing days at USC.  He was a great wide receiver and kick returner for USC.  I remember giving him a high-five as a kid at The Rose Bowl.  As we all may have read, he recently admitted to receiving $14,000 in illegal money while playing in college.  This is the story that gets written and spread throughout media outlets.

We hate to highlight lameness of former USC greats, but the PhDs give you guys and gals the real.  Lonnie, it's really sad to see you acting out like this as a reaction to not being man-crushed by Jaboner or Rock or myself.  Should have won a Heisman.  You had a nice place in Trojan Football history - why come out with this story?  College players accepting money is nothing new Lonnie - you as a journalist know (and have known) that.  Just what do you care to gain with this story?  You took money from 1982-1986.  You go and tell The Daily that this is something that you're ashamed of.  Nice of you to come out after TWENTY FIVE YEARS to confess what you and COUNTLESS OTHER PLAYERS have done, do now, and will continue to do, and as a journalist, you should actually write about the issue and include your admission as part of that report.  Rather, you pitifully highlight just how irrelevant you are.  You could have rustled up some dollars and paid athletes for bills and such and PAID IT FORWARD Lonnie!  Why are you trying to ruin things for all the players today who are trying to pay their bills and treat themselves to some Sanamluang?  Explain it to us.  That's journalism.

  1. Rack him. Nice piece. Pay it forward.

  2. How did you know about Sanamluang? I love that place. There is no better place to take a date to slurp on some noodles. Know what I mean?
